Comparing PCMC PU colleges in Bangalore? PCMC is Physics, Chemistry, Maths and Computer Science: the combination for engineering and computing. Here is what it covers at Presidency PU College, Hebbal, and where it leads.
Subjects
What you study.
Six subjects over two years, 600 marks in the II PU board exam. PCMC is one of three Science combinations: see all Science combinations.
- Physics
- Theory and lab practicals.
- Chemistry
- Theory and lab practicals.
- Mathematics
- Theory and problem practice, in class and for the entrance exams.
- Computer Science
- Theory and practicals in the computer lab.
- Languages
- English, and one second language. Ask admissions which second languages run this year.
A week
The shape of a week.
Lessons, labs, help when you need it, and Thursday for sport.
- Lessons
Physics, Chemistry, Maths and the fourth subject. Each section has its own team of teachers.
- Practicals
Physics and Chemistry labs for practicals, and computer labs for Computer Science.
- Extra help
Remedial practice and extra guidance sessions for students who need them.
- Thursday
DSA day: cross-fitness, taekwondo, Zumba, badminton and table tennis.
- Entrance prep
Integrated students add JEE, NEET or KCET sessions to the same timetable.
Who teaches
Sreedhar BabuHead, Integrated Programme
Families name our teachers in their reviews. Sreedhar Babu is named most, as a physics teacher and mentor.
“The teaching quality is strong, and most teachers explain concepts clearly and actually care whether we understand or not.”
Entrance and beyond
Where PCMC leads.
JEE and KCET preparation can sit inside the same timetable as the board syllabus. That is the Integrated programme, led by Mr P. Sreedhar Babu, Head of the Integrated Programme. The college describes its JEE method as in-house faculty, NTA-synced preparation, study hours led by senior lecturers and regular testing with error evaluation.
What PCMC leads to
- KCET
- For engineering seats in Karnataka, including government-quota seats.
- JEE Main and JEE Advanced
- For NITs and other national engineering institutes, and for the IITs through JEE Advanced.
- BITSAT
- For BITS Pilani. A student of our 2024–26 PCMC batch is now at BITS Pilani, Hyderabad.
- B.Sc. and BCA in computing
- Degree courses in computer science and applications, with Maths and Computer Science already behind you.
What we have published
- 6 of the 10 Science toppers the college listed for 2025-26 took PCMC.
- 20 of our students qualified to write JEE Advanced in 2026.
- Sumith S Solankar, PCMC, scored 591/600 and was 9th in Karnataka in II PU 2026.

- Fee concessions
- OBC, SC, ST, Single-parent families, Others
Honestly
Who PCMC is not for.
Better to say it now than in November.
- JEE Advanced as the only goal.
We are strong for JEE Main and KCET, and honest about the rest. If an IIT seat is the single aim, a dedicated coaching institute may suit you better.
- A child who wants Biology or NEET.
NEET needs Biology, which PCMC does not have. PCMB is the combination for that.
Questions
PCMC questions, answered.
What is PCMC?
PCMC is the Science combination of Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Computer Science, taught over 1st PUC and 2nd PUC under the Karnataka Department of Pre-University Education. Students also study English and one more language.
What can I do after PCMC?
PCMC is built for engineering. Students write KCET and JEE Main, and some write JEE Advanced or BITSAT. Degree courses in computer science and applications are also open.
Can a PCMC student write NEET?
No. The National Testing Agency's NEET UG bulletin asks for Physics, Chemistry and Biology or Biotechnology, and PCMC has no Biology. Choose PCMB if medicine is a possibility.
Is JEE coaching part of the PCMC timetable?
It can be. The Integrated programme puts JEE or CET preparation into the same timetable. The college's 2027-28 posts list the Science options as JEE, NEET, NEET + CET and CET. Ask admissions which one suits your child.
Is Presidency PU College Hebbal good for JEE?
Our students say it is strong for JEE Main and KCET, and 20 qualified to write JEE Advanced in 2026. It is not a pure coaching institute. If an IIT seat is the only goal, meet the physics teachers and compare before you decide.
PCMC or PCME: what is the difference?
The fourth subject: Computer Science in PCMC, Electronics in PCME. PCMC is the more common choice for engineering and computing. Admissions can tell you which combinations run for 2027-28.
